Description

The Director of Product Development is responsible for setting overarching product engineering direction for Xero Shoes. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will achieve this by managing the Product Development staff, liaising with Product Design and Product Management counterparts and communicating a global footwear development strategy to various internal and external audiences. Footwear engineering standards and best practices would be applied to contribute to increased brand value, while reducing development and manufacturing costs.

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate Xero Shoes footwear development vision to all internal and external partners, including product design, manufacturing, vendors, and marketing.
  • Supervise the product development team for Xero Shoes. Performance goal setting, assignments, workload, professional development, and assessment of this staff team is conducted by the Director of Product Development.
  • Troubleshoot product issues, make difficult decisions, manage multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Set and manage Footwear Development Management of the product calendar and adherence to completion dates for tasks within.
  • Study and respond to Xero’s unique end user requirements, expectations, and activity demands.
  • Create and ensure product development standards and best practices for Xero Shoes. This includes learning how “true minimalist” footwear development differs from traditional practices, proactively managing factory partnerships to avoid deviations from Xero standards and ensuring innovations in footwear are aligned to our best practices.
  • Advise key stakeholders and the product creation team on standards and best practice adoption to enhance the aesthetic and drive cost reduction and functional benefit of the product.
  • Lead initiatives to improve and refine product development processes and recommend resource allocation as required.
  • Work with cross-functional team members regularly to examine performance benefits for the Xero consumer.
  • Stay informed and communicate relevant emerging industry engineering and process improvements to staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing a function or team,
  • 10-15 years of functional understanding in the areas of pattern making, last/fit engineering, bottom stock, footwear material application, tooling, and industry standard digital software.  Knowledge of the footwear industry, manufacturing and material partners and innovation contacts.
  • mass production and R & D. Experience within the Performance, Active, Outdoor and Lifestyle footwear industry is a preferred.
  • A bachelors’ degree in a related field, or successful completion of a certified footwear trade school is preferred
  • Comprehensive experience working with footwear manufacturing factories and product creation centers. On-floor experience in a footwear manufacturing facility is a plus.
  • Proficiency in making complex engineering concepts understandable to non-developers to get alignment with key stakeholders within the company.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate product development team members and to socialize plans for development to key stakeholders in the company

We are looking for a Full-Stack eCommerce Web Developer – someone who is a dynamic, ambitious, highly energetic, and self-motivated person able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while leading your team by example.

The purpose of this role would be to bolster our back-end and customer-facing web and systems capabilities so that we can quickly deploy technical solutions that can help fuel our growth (e.g., new website capabilities / features, security protocol, and systems infrastructure) and to provide additional support to the wholesale and customer service sides of the business (e.g., IT support, vendor/retailer support, bug fixes, etc.). 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a full-stack web developer on all WordPress and WooCommerce projects, ensuring that all DTC properties and 3rd-party systems integrations are built to modern web standards, deliver high performance, and match the approved functionality and design.
  • Research requirements for implementing new technologies in order to summarize capabilities and propose solutions to address limitations.
  • Continuously identify and develop fixes for bugs and other issues to ensure optimal website performance.
  • Update internal knowledge base and socialize features and functionality with stakeholders in marketing, sales, customer service, and operations.
  • Ensure that all company data are secure, including managing the security of our production and staging environments.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to various internal stakeholders in digital marketing, sales, customer service, and operations.

This position is located in our corporate office in the Interlocken area in Broomfield, CO and will report to the Director of eCommerce.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 7 years of experience working in a full time professional capacity (e.g., not part-time or side project) as a web developer in the online retail / eCommerce industry. Front-end/interface design and full stack experience may be combined to achieve 7 years.
  • Ability to apply a deep understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, mySQL, and PHP functions to create custom solutions, plugins, themes, and toolkits in WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Strong familiarity with the WooCommerce plugin ecosystem – in particular, applications that support routine eCommerce functionality such as order management, CX, and web analytics.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of the principles of SEO and online marketing.
  • Familiarity with warehouse and order management systems, enterprise resource planning, and customer experience platforms.
  • Ability to design user interfaces that deliver an excellent direct-to-consumer shopping experience.
  • Ability to design custom back-end solutions for internal customers and partners.
  • Experience with Ship Hero, Google Analytics, Help Scout, and other core components of our stack is a plus.
  • A mastery of WooCommerce is required; experience with other eCommerce platforms is a plus.

The job is first shift plus and occasional weekend. Our warehouse is located in east Denver near I-70 and Havana. Some of the duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Picking/packing direct-to-consumer orders
  • Fulfilling wholesale and Amazon orders
  • Processing returns and exchanges
  • Unloading shipping container and trailers
  • Sorting and restoring returned product
  • Organizing stock and maintaining inventory
  • Inspecting products for defects and damages
  • Initiating quality control checks on incoming products and outbound shipments

The successful candidate will have at least two (2) years of warehouse experience including warehouse management systems using scanners in a warehouse or shipping environment. Experience with Ship Hero is a plus.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Capturing the brand voice to craft compelling, pitch-perfect marketing copy for first- and third-party digital properties, including our direct-to-consumer website, third-party marketplaces, and partner sites as needed.
  • Digital content production & optimization to Include, but are not limited to: emails, landing pages, advertorials, social ads, native ads, paid search ads, sales videos (written visuals and outlines for filming), long form sales letters, brochures, direct mail, offers, blog posts, ebooks, teaching videos (written visuals and outlines for filming), infographics.
